About 10 miles away, you will find 'Little Switzerland'; with the sound of redstarts, buzzards and skylarks for walkers, cyclists and riders to enjoy. The hills of South Shropshire are one of the few remaining rural idylls and a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The vast Mortimer Forest folds around Ludlow, covering much of the surrounding area. Ludlow Castle (2 miles / 3.2 km): Perched above the River Teme this is a regular setting for events, markets, craft and food fairs, Shakespearean plays and concerts; the expansive ruins of this impressive medieval castle offer a glimpse into the life of medieval society. Ludlow Racecourse (6.5 miles / 10.5 km): It is said that 14th century soldiers raced their horses at this modern day National Hunt course.
